How To Choose A Great Treadmill For The Home
Even though you want to stay in shape and stick with all of your fitness goals, getting to the gym is not always the easiest thing to do because of the time it takes and your busy schedule. Having a treadmill around the home is a great way to solve this problem because you will be able to workout from your own house without driving anywhere, sitting through traffic or wasting any time. You will be able to work out at any time, without any hassle or inconvenience. You can exercise while watching TV, or even read while you run. Even when there is bad weather you can run indoors.
Knowing the basics of how a treadmill works is of course important. The working system of a treadmill is the belt system. The top of the belt moves to the rear, allowing you to run an equal and necessarily opposite speed. Changing the speed is always easy to do, and you’ll be able to enjoy many other features such as heart rate monitoring, calories burned displayed and much more.
Choosing a Great Treadmill: Well, after deciding you want to buy a treadmill for yourself, but looking at the number of different treadmills available, you may get confused as to which one is best? Many people start their search with consideration of price. This is important because treadmills can get very expensive. But perhaps more important is not shooting for the cheapest model just because it saves you money. Consider the durability and functionality first, and then come to the price.
A main consideration when you’re ready to buy a treadmill is how large the machine is. First you’ll have to think about where you will be putting the machine in your house. If space is an issue, you may want to choose a model which folds for storage. Another thing to think about will be the kind of motor that is used with a particular model. Of course, a larger and more powerful motor is going to last for a longer period of time and stand up to the conditions better. You want to look at the peak duty rating and continuous duty rating to get a good idea of the motor’s capability. A 1.5 continuous duty horsepower engine is a good place to start for an average adult male.
You’ll also need to focus on the specifications of the deck itself. A thick deck is going to be durable, strong and comfortable, and should be at least three quarters of an inch thick. The length of the walking track should be at least 48 inches and the width about 17 inches, so that you do not step off the track. After looking at all of these measurements you want to pay attention to shock absorption. The suspension should be under the deck for maximum cushioning and support. You’ll see that either foam or rubber is used for padding, and each has their own advantages and drawbacks in terms of comfort and durability.
Finally, don’t forget to consider all of the extra features of your treadmill. Features can include preset exercise programs, levels of inclination and different degrees of monitoring and displays. Of course, the more of these features and other advanced specifications that you have on your machine, the more money you will probably have to spend.
So are you ready to go out and buy a treadmill?. A great place to start is with a Bowflex treadmill such as the Bowflex 7 Series treadmill which is amazingly capable and powerful and is loaded with features. All treadmills though can provide an excellent workout for people of any kind of fitness level or background, and they are extremely convenient to use around the home.
