5 Delicious, Filling Low-Calorie Foods!
People who decide to go on a diet to lose a few pounds find that hunger is an enormous challenge. It’s common knowledge that to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you eat. But how can you avoid those gnawing hunger pangs all day long without binging?
These foods will fill you up and keep you feeling full longer, so that you won’t experience hunger pangs and be tempted to break your diet.
1. Fish – 150 to 200 Calories / Serving
Fish will fill you up nicely and should keep you full until the next meal, and it’s also very low in calories. In fact, of all the meats available, fish is the most filling of all! Without consuming any more calories, you could eat a larger portion of fish than of beef, chicken or pork.
Of course, there are pitfalls with every just about every food. For instance, fish and chips is definitely not a good idea when you’re dieting to lose weight. Not only is the breading high in calories, in many cases deep-fat frying can add dozens of calories to a small piece of fish. This may seem like a surprising choice – fruits aren’t generally thought of as low-calorie, filling foods. Sadly, most people, whether or not they’re dieting, don’t usually reach for a piece of fruit when they want a snack. In addition to natural sugars and a host of vitamins and nutrients, these particular fruits are full of dietary fiber, which helps you feel full.

Because overeating pasta is so easy to do, it’s critical that you watch serving sizes. If you eat a portion of pasta about the size of your fist, that should be sufficient to fill you comfortably until your next regular meal.

What is wrong is the habit some people have of smothering a steak in sauces that are high in calories. Atkins Diet devotees have long been aware of this. Frankly, steak is one of the best meats available for a weight loss diet, second only to fish in terms of its desirability as a weight-loss food. Lean cuts of beef, of course, are preferable because you will reduce your fat intake.
Keeping a good control over the size of your portions is critical, of course. Don’t go overboard on these delicious foods just because they’re low-calorie. Other foods are appropriate to eat from time to time, of course. Just keep in mind that portion control is always a critical part of a healthy diet.
