Is it water fasting safe for a 15 year old girl?
* I’m a 15 year old girl.
* I’m healthy, overall, according to my doctor.
* My goals: detoxify my body, enhance immune system, clear my head, give my body a rest.
I’ve never fasted before, and I want to try a 3 day water fast, starting now, ending Monday morning. Do you think it’s safe?

‘Detox’ is a scam term used to sell books (and TV shows, lol) to a gullible public. If you’re healthy, the only way you’ll stay that way is by eating healthily. Without an intake of food, your body goes into ‘famine mode’, slowing down bodily functions and so processing things a lot slower. An ideal way to hold on to any impurities in your system in fact.
Get your health advice from a doctor, not someone who’s trying to promote their own TV show, books etc.

Do not do this. Never go on a fast without your doctor’s supervision since you don’t know what it might do to your body. Different people react differently. What is this detoxify stuff. That’s what our kidneys and our liver are for. They remove the toxins from our bodies otherwise we would die. Nice thing is that they work 24/7. There is not one shred of proof that fasting improves the immune system. This is just new ago pop medicine which has no basis in scientific fact. If you want to give your body a rest then just hang out for a day or two and relax. Fasting will not give your body a rest from anything.

it is feasible, although as far as safety concerns i would not recommend it. a strictly water diet will definitely not enhance your immune system, rather it will do the exact opposite. your body needs protein and without it your immune system will be weakened. if your looking to cleanse your body, i suggest drinking cranberry juice. a balanced and healthy diet will help you achieve all your goals without having to do something as drastic as fasting.

You’re healthy, so don’t make your self sick by water fasting. Starving yourself is not giving your body a rest.
It sounds like you are falling prey to alternative medicine rubbish/scams. "Detox" has no meaning outside of the clinical treatment of drug addiction or poisoning. Your body has evolved to get rid with unwanted substances very efficiently via the liver and kidneys; you can’t improve on that without medical assistance. In any case the "toxins" in question have never been identified, let alone shown to accumulate in the body – it is just a made up condition to sell products.
Further, you can’t ‘enhance’ your immune system – if you are healthy, maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, you can’t do any better than that. You can’t be healthier than healthy.

Young ladies of your age should never go on a water fast. No reputable doctor or alternative practitioner would suggest this to you. Don’t do it.
