    This beautiful young lady talks about looking forward to eating again because it gives her comfort and joy. I’m afraid that’s a recipe for disaster.

    If you are going to dedicate the time, will power and dedication and fearlessness that it takes to complete a long fast, then you should be thinking about a different course in your eating habits. Enter an exercise program and change your lifestyle. Otherwise in a few months you will gain it all back.

    If you’re going to take the time to go on a long fast, then you have to decide even before you start the fast that you are going to change your lifestyle. You have to cut out all of the crap and junk food and eat a healthy diet, preferably vegetarian.

    You are right. If you continue eating as you did before, you will gain all of your weight back and more because after the fast, your body runs more efficiently and utilizes the nutrients that you eat better and faster.

    You only gain the weight back, when you over eat after you stop fasting. You have to take it very slow. Break the fast with orange juice and stick with juices for about a week. After that you can add fruits to your diet. Then veggies, then whole grains, then meats and so on ands so forth, but take it SLOW! You need to give your metabolism time to catch up. And remember this is a life style change, if you go back to eating unhealthily you will gain it all back plus extra possibly.

    im gonna try this water fast :) but dont you gain all the weight back after you start eating? your metabolism slows down a lot so it jus goes into survival mode and stores any fat you consume.. :/

    does anybody have any idea if this is true? if so, how can you prevent gaining back all the weight?

    lol fasting is dangerous for those without bodily reserves, that goes without saying.
    For that reason, it is best for overweight people, but of course, thin people should fast too, however only for shorter periods.

    It is NOT safe at all, bar none.
    I am a biology major working on my masters and I’ve studied human anatomy for years. I can say that this is very destructable to your body.

    3 days is actually the hump you have to get over in order to send your body into ketosis on a water fast. It’s actually quite safe if you don’t exceed 40 days- 30 actually, to be on the safe side. The entire body is able to cleanse itself. The joints, which the lymph system normally has a hard time reaching are cleansed quite well. It’s quite safe for the average person. People with conditions like type-1 diabetes should not attempt it, though.

    This entire experience sounds painful and very unhealthy. I wouldn’t have done all of this for more than three days at tops. I’m amazed at how a persons body can go for so long without needing food. I’ve actually spent a day not eating or drinking accidentally and I lost a couple of pounds. Currently, I’m still at 120 and it feels strange even though I’m 5’4 tall.. I feel like I should weigh more.

    not if you start eating again properly (very small amounts of fruit and such at first. you shouldnt be back to three meals a day for at least a week after a long fast) and newt faced, you are not starving while on a 30 day fast. you arent ‘starving’ untill all of the bodies fat and nonessential tissues have been digested, and then the body starts breaking down bones, organs, etc.

    *get sun and rest during the fast,, I don’t nessacarly think you should be bed ridden but take it easy … some people are laid up most of the time , others do mild excercises ,,,,
    *pay very close attention to your body
    *books say distilled water
    *eat raw fruits and juice before fast

    *fasting is not starvation… your hunger should go away within the first week and when the hunger pangs start back up depending on how much crap you have stored inside of you. Could be 7 days could be 40, you should immediatly break the fast when the hunger returns , you may also get another coat on your tongue around that time… that is when your body actually starts to devour itself.

    *for every 3 days of fasting you should juice for one day when breaking the fast
    *do not substitute protien when fasting , your body has all the protien stores it needs..people have died from doing this

    You really shouldn’t fast, maybe a 1 day water fast sure, but you still need to grow and your boy needs neutriants to produce amino acids n such. Just eat healthy, work out, I fast every week for 1 day 24 hours total, only water. thats more for you. I’m currently doin the 40 day watr fast at 18. but either way, good luck.

    u know why they say do it under close doctor supervision, BECAUSE THEY REALIZE YOU COULD DIE OR OTHER AWFUL THINGS CAN HAPPEN!!! now think about that for a min does that sound good….
