Healthy Living Recipes 101
All the “substitution” healthy living recipes are probably getting on your nerves. These are recipes that try to make unhealthy (and oh-so-delicious) foods healthy while remaining palatable. Nonetheless, candy bars aren’t made of lime extract, dates and peanuts. It will not ever happen. Dates and limes will never a candy bar make.
However, when you come to this realization it can be very liberating. It can actually have you enjoying food in a whole new way. Once you stop trying to bake delicious, moist brownies out of cardboard, you can start focusing on creating dishes that you will actually enjoy.
The following are tips on how to make your own healthy recipes that will leave you completely satisfied:
• Its best to stay in season
Seasonal foods are the best and really a treat. Make sure you treat them that way. They are perfect for making into delicious main courses or the desserts. Try using juicy, sweet mandarin oranges in the winter and fresh peaches in the summer. All types of berries are excellent in the spring and sweet, crisp apples are perfect for fall. You don’t have completely give these up the rest of the, but eating them at the perfect time of year makes them even better.
• Accentuate the positive
When eating healthy, stay away from all really heavily processed foods. Pre-packaged items are usually very bad for you. Homemade treats with fresh fruits are always so much better, and better for you, than those pre-packaged cakes and cookies. Then you can be so proud of yourself not only for eating right, but for also creating those healthy living recipes that are so delicious.
• Concentrate on your family
You may not think this is really a recipe at first. Your food will taste so much better, when meals become family time rather than just about food. But, when your schedule doesn’t allow for regular family dinners, then just make your meal a time for self-reflection. You can have a cup of green tea and a nice quite dinner. Take your time eating and think about your day. This makes meals more relaxing even if you aren’t eating those pre-packaged high fat foods you initially crave.
So healthy living is about more than the food. It is about mindset. In closing, a really successful healthy living recipe factors in all aspects of a meal and doesn’t just focus in on the sugar and preservative content.
