Is it ok to drink flavored water while fasting before bloodwork?

I like to add stuff like the "On the go" packets – sugar free – to my water. But I’m getting blood work done this morning… is it ok to drink that, or will i have to resort to plain old water?

Plain old water is required for fasting before blood work.

While the additive may be sugar free, the flavoring chemicals can, in some cases, affect the test results.

Note that the COLORING dyes will DEFINITELY affect procedures such as a colonoscopy.

Plain old water — that’s it.

No as a matter of fact many test require NPO, which in English means do not eat or drink anything after midnight .

You can rinse you mouth out with plain water do not swallow the water.

recently in the hospital, they took my sugar while i was drinking a diet coke, and they said it was ok.

i personally would drink the plain old water.
